Action Now Holds Two BIG Community Meetings About Vacant Property Problem

Action Now members posting a sign on a vacant building in their community, calling on the city to rehab and rent the home instead of demolishing it.

Action Now is holding two BIG Community Meetings, one on the South Side and one on the West Side, to discuss the widespread problem of vacant buildings that are destroying Chicago’s neighborhoods. We also want to get community input on our “Rebuild Chicago” campaign to create a Housing Trust where vacant buildings can be donated, rehabbed and rented. So far we have over 1,000 RSVP’s for our meetings, as well as Aldermen that have confirmed their attendance. Feel free to join us and learn more about Action Now and our plan to Rebuild Chicago!

South Side Meeting: October 18th, 2012 at 6pm at Hopewell M.B.C., 6600 S. Hermitage

West Side Meeting: October 25th, 2012 at 6pm at Penn Elementary, 1616 S. Avers

The goal of Rebuild Chicago is to improve communities by reducing the amount of vacant buildings, creating jobs, decreasing violence and crime, increase property values and lowering property taxes.
